60 years since Elvis signed with RCA
Its 60 years since Elvis Presley left Sun Records and signed with RCA. The deal was masterminded by Colonel Tom Parker who had been working his way around Sam Phillips, Elvis’s then manager Bob Neal, and even Elvis’s parents by this great promise of a major record deal. And he cracked it.
On November 21, 1955 at Sun Records in Memphis, Elvis signed away his Sun Records agreement and entered into a contract with RCA. Sam Phillips was paid an unprecedented $35,000 for Elvis’s contract, while Elvis also picked up a bonus of $5,000.
