Review: Elvis River Boat Cruise
What could be better? A day at Elvis the Exhibit at the O2, then sailing back into the centre of London on the Elvis Dinner Cruise.
This is exactly what we did last Thursday, leaving the O2 early evening for a 3-hour cruise of Elvis, dinner, dancing and some of the very best views you’ll ever see of London.
The cruise boarded at 7.45pm from North Grenwich Pier, right next to the O2. We were welcomed with a nice glass of fizz, before sitting down for dinner as we set sail. As you can see from our photos, the views are amazing, from the O2 onto Canary Wharf and into London on the Thames.
The Elvis entertainment was provided from the very talented Ben Thompson. It was a chilled out affair. As we settled down to our first dinner course, Ben sung his way through a great set of Elvis songs. Not the 20 greatest hits collection you’d expect to hear at this type of event, but many of the songs that fans would love to hear such as It’s Midnight and Heart of Rome.
Dinner was fantastic, the starter was served shortly after boarding and the main course was delivered fresh from a stop further along the river. Fussy eaters don’t have to worry, the food was gorgeous, there was a meat or vegetarian option and if you’re really fussy or vegan (like me) you certainly wouldn’t starve. So I’m sure they can deal with any dietary preferences.
As the sun set Ben Thompson returned to really get the party started and before long we were all up and dancing as the ship sailed under Tower Bridge and onto our final stop at the Houses of Parliament.
Living just outside London, its crazy that we haven’t tried one of these river boat cruises before. We’d highly recommend it. And with the added bonus of Elvis nights throughout the next two months, there’s no better reason for a great summer night out.
