The swimming pool at Graceland

This year we’ve been looking back over 60 years to when Elvis first bought Graceland in 1957. Elvis bought the house in March and in April he had the famous music gates installed.
Well, sixty years ago this week, Elvis had his famous kidne- shaped swimming pool installed, which you see on many home movies, when Elvis does some terrific belly-flops into the pool.

The swimming pool cost Elvis $8,400 at the time and in 1957 that was an incredible amount, by today’s money that would be nearly $74,000.
I really think they saw the name Elvis and bumped up the price a bit!
Well, the workmanship must have been good as the pools lasted at least – a good 60 years!
